Teaching is one of my passions. Unlike most researchers in Astronomy, I chose to spend some time primarily teaching at the undergraduate level after graduate school rather than doing a postdoctoral research position. Partly because I wanted a change after 6 years of doing mostly research for my PhD, partly because I happened to be offered a fantastic position: Visiting Assistant Professor at Swarthmore College. In any event, teaching at Swarthmore for four years gave me tons of experience and convinced me that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life.
